Will of Fortune by Immortalize is an immersive strategy card game that helps you master legacy planning in a fun and engaging way.
Play as one of the 9 unique personas, each with their own backstory, personality and distinctive special power. Take on the task of protecting the main character Peter Devan's lifelong legacy before he runs out of time. Strategise your moves, sabotage, or collaborate with other players - your choice in every round matters.
As the game progresses, discover tools used for legacy planning and learn how you can plan ahead in real life.

THE STORY GOES LIKE THIS...
Conglomerate tycoon Peter Devan, facing a sudden Stage 3 cancer diagnosis, has decided to delegate his legacy planning to his loved ones. You will play as one of those individuals and step into the role of handling his legacy planning on his behalf.

BACKSTORY
Conglomerate tycoon, Peter Devan (60 years old) has been recently diagnosed with Stage III cancer and realised how important legacy planning is. Yet, he is running out of time to set up a proper plan.
Being a true family man, he decides to entrust the task of protecting his lifelong legacy and the people he cares about to his loved ones as they know him best. The person (‘Persona’) that does the best legacy plan for him will be awarded his estate at Centosa Cove worth $100 million as a token of appreciation.

GAME OBJECTIVE
The player who obtains the most points will win. Points are collected through doing comprehensive and detailed legacy planning for Peter.
To collect points, player will need to accumulate cards from the Legacy Deck to form sets
Players can get these Legacy cards through Planning cards, or play Strategy cards for various player interaction effects.
GAME SET-UP

Adjusting for player size
Depending on your player count, use 5 cards per sub-category (4 sub-categories) per player, remove Peter’s Last Breath and shuffle to form the Legacy Deck.
The Legacy Deck consists of 4 sub-categories:
(1) Estate Planning Tools
(2) Insurance & Retirement
(3) Documents
(4) Funeral & Memorabilia
For example:
TWO PLAYERS:
10 cards in each sub-category, total 40
THREE PLAYERS:
15 cards in each sub-category, total 60
FOUR PLAYERS:
20 cards in each sub-category, total 80

Choosing your persona
Use of the persona’s power will not take up an action
The chosen persona will remain a secret until the first use of its power (do not show other players your chosen persona until first use!)
Note:
Before the game starts, put the persona cards faced-down and each player randomly picks a character in Peter’s family to play as
These personas would give players unique abilities and powers that they would be able to use throughout the game

Starting hand and deck set-up
Each player draws 3 Strategy cards and 3 Planning cards that makes up their starting hand
Shuffle Peter’s Last Breath into bottom third of the Legacy Deck. When Peter’s Last Breath is revealed, it means that Peter’s health condition has worsened aggressively, and it is time for him to review the legacy plans!
The game ends. All players’ points are tabulated and the player with most points wins!

Whenever a card is taken from the marketplace, immediately replenish it with the top card of the deck
The top 3 cards from the Hiring deck are placed facing up to form the Hiring marketplace
Your persona card is placed facing down until the first use of its power. Once the power and identity has been revealed, put the card facing up
If the Strategy or Planning deck runs out before the game ends, reshuffle the discard pile, forming a new deck
PLAYING THE GAME
Players take turns in a clockwise manner. The player who most recently wrote a Will goes first. If none has written a Will, the oldest player goes first
STEP 1
At the start of your turn, draw one card each from the Strategy and Planning decks and add them to your hand
STEP 2
Choose from the following action types and play up to 3 actions. Action types can be repeated
1. Playing a Strategy card
2. Playing a Planning card
3. Hiring from the Hiring Marketplace or using hiring card effects
STEP 3
Players are also able to use their Persona card’s power, if applicable, anytime during their turn
THINGS TO NOTE!!!
How do I hire from the Hiring Marketplace?
The number on the top left of the hiring card indicates the number of Strategy/Planning cards the player would have to “pay” to hire
The cards that are used as “payment” go to their respective discard piles
The power of the Hiring cards can be stacked.
E.g., 2 Lawyers = 2 additional points for Estate Planning Tool cards collected
What do the Strategy and Planning cards do?
Strategy cards mainly consists of cards that involve player interactions such as ways to work with or disrupt others
Planning cards consists of cards that allow players to take cards and interact with the Legacy Market
END GAME & SCORING
When Peter’s Last Breath is revealed, the game ends and the players’ scores are tabulated
SCORING SYSTEM
Each Legacy category has its own scoring mechanisms
Estate Planning Tool Card
The more Estate Planning Tool Cards a player collects, the more points awarded

Insurance & Retirement Card
Players are ranked based on the amount of Insurance and Retirement cards that they have collected
1st place: 21 points
2nd place: 15 points
3rd place: 9 points
4th place: 3 points
If the players are tied, they split the points
E.g., 2 players are tied for 2nd place. They each get (15+9)/2 = 12 points
Document Card
For each unique Document card collected, more points are awarded. You can have up to 5 unique cards and any duplicated card will not count towards your points

Funeral & Memorabilia Card
Collect 5-6 of any Funeral and Memorabilia card to obtain 17 points. If not, you would score 0 points
BALANCED SET
Additionally, if a Player has a card from one of each legacy category, they score an additional 5 points. This can be repeated.
