In Singapore, the court appoints one or more person as administrator(s), whom they deem the most suitable to manage the deceased’s assets when the deceased has left no will, or if there's a will but no executor was named in the will. One can apply for a Grant of Letters of Administration and be appointed as the administrator through a legal process called probate and administration.
The person appointed in a will by the testator, called an executor, is responsible for managing and distributing the deceased's assets and will apply for a Grant of Probate instead.
